We are the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, an award-winning, not-for-profit aquarium and marine education facility. Our purpose is to introduce people of all ages to the amazing ecosystem of our local Salish Sea and to educate visitors about ocean sustainability and why it is so important. We showcase marine habitats designed to look just as they would under the ocean’s surface; each are filled with hundreds of creatures great and small, from a giant pacific octopus to micro plankton. We have a team of over 120 volunteer Oceaneers standing by to engage with our visitors by explaining the many intricacies of the Salish Sea and what makes it so unique. One of the most popular features of our aquarium is our touch pool area, where visitors have the chance to tickle urchins and shake hands with sea stars. And don’t miss our Ocean Store gift shop, the perfect place to pick up a local keepsake or gifts for families and friends!
