Try it. Do it. Be it. Art is for Everyone! October 13 - 22, 2017

LIFE HERE Community Mural Project

Panorama Recreation Centre Oct. 13 - 20

What makes life here on the Saanich Peninsula special to you? Why not show us! Drop by the lobby at Panorama and express yourself by drawing on our big canvas outline of the Peninsula. There will be felt pens and crayons available for everyone to draw a picture of what’s special about life here.

Local coffee shops throughout the Peninsula Oct. 13 - 20

When you come for coffee, we’re inviting you to not just drink coffee and talk to your pals but create some art while you’re at it. Doodle, draw, write, colour...whatever! There will be jars of pens, pencils, felts, crayons and blank postcards waiting for your creation. There may even be a few “real” artists hanging out to give you the idea. Then you can “post” your card in the “post” box provided. We’ll display them in each coffee shop for all to see. And we’d love you to post them on Instagram - tag us on social media at #artseafun.

It’s all happening at:
Brentwood Bay Village Emporium Fresh Cup in Saanichton Melinda’s Biscotti, North Saanich Serious Coffee, Sidney
The Georgia Cafe, Sidney

Mary Winspear Centre Oct. 13 - 15
Island Blue Print Oct. 17
Greenglade Community Centre Out of School Care program Oct. 18 Free

If drawing isn’t your thing, then we have an event for you! It’s called origami but don’t let that scare you. It really just means folding paper. We thought it would be cool to get as many people as possible to fold little boats for a big window at display at Island Blue Print in Sidney as part of the Fall Studio Tour, Oct. 21 & 22.

Come and find us in the lobby of the Mary Winspear Centre during the Sidney Fine Art Show. We will provide the paper and instructions for folding. You can choose from three boat designs - sailboat, tug boat or ferry. If you miss us at the Fine Art Show, then come in to Island Blue Print on Tuesday, Oct. 17 to make your boat.

The boats will be collected and arranged into an amazing display! Name your boat so you can find it in the window!

Greenglade Community Centre Friday, Oct. 13, 6:00 - 8:00 PM Grades 6 - 9

An event for youth to try their hands at making Jackson Pollock inspired splatter paintings using different paint dripping techniques. All creations will be on display during ArtSea Festival week at Greenglade Community Centre. Drop by and see what the kids have created.
