A little bit about Boondocks

There was a time when a railroad ran between Sidney and Victoria, well a long time ago as it stopped running in 1919, but that is where the story of Boondocks starts, well sort of.

It was in 1904 that the building which is known as Boondocks today began to serve the community as Buckerfields feed barn. At that time railcars unloaded their feed at Buckerfields and then carried on their merry way much the same way customers come and go today.

The building has seen many uses over the years but seems to best suit the purpose for which it is used today, a great place to meet, dine and drink.

Today Sean and Jenn McNeill are the Red Seal chef owners that strive to make Boondocks a fun and comfortable establishment for all that enter their doors. Boondocks is a family restaurant and children are always welcomed but in all honesty if you want a quiet family meal than Friday nights are not always the best bet as it can get fairly loud with an establishment full of locals unwinding after a long hard week in what can best be described as a authentic pub style restaurant.

We are wheelchair accessible; our ramp is in the rear of the building with easy access from the parking lot behind the restaurant. Parking is available most of the time on the street at no cost and additional parking is located directly behind our building in the Town of Sidney’s pay parking lot. Unfortunately, people have been known to get tickets in the lot, sorry.

All of our staff do their best to greet everyone with a smile but in the off chance that they are busy at that moment please feel free to sit yourself down where ever you feel comfortable and enjoy the somewhat entertaining decor , somebody will be with you shortly.

We also have a strong local following and as such we like to give back to the community. To that end we are a teaching kitchen where our Red Seal Chefs help our talented young apprentices further their skills.
