Anya Karita’s Photography

My name is Anya. I am local to Vancouver Island, BC.

My interest in photography began in my 20’s while living in southern Finland. I was fortunate enough to study under Vidar Lindqvist. One of Finland’s leading photographers at the time. Vidar utilized the Ansel Adams method of photography. Together we would spend countless hours in the darkroom.

Fast forwarding into the present day, my faithful digital camera is rarely far from my reach. My first love is Black and White photography. But I love capturing rich colours, especially while traveling. And I am grateful for the beauty of the coast I live on. A joy for someone who is so passionate about photography.

I am delighted to find a new line of interest in photographing people. Until recently I had a resistance to this. So discovering and exploring this new world is exciting for me.

I have also recently been blessed with the opportunity to open a photography studio in our downtown Sidney, B.C. I do must of my studio work there. It is also available for use to other photographers at an hourly or daily rate. For images of the space please to my ” My Studio” gallery.
